Black ice led to a series of accidents near Wittlich over the weekend. Four separate incidents were reported on Friday evening and Saturday night. Fortunately, only one person sustained minor injuries.

The first crash happened when a car slid off the road and struck a house wall. Another vehicle ended up in a ditch after losing control on the icy surface. Two further collisions involved cars hitting each other due to the slippery conditions.

The responsibility for clearing black ice in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district lies with the local Straßenmeisterei. This department, under the district’s road maintenance authority, manages winter road services across the area.

Among those affected, a 19-year-old woman was the only person injured. Her condition was described as minor, with no other casualties reported.

Authorities continue to monitor road conditions in the region. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, especially during freezing temperatures. The local road maintenance team remains responsible for addressing icy patches to prevent further incidents.
