BJP MP Demands Privilege Proceedings Against Rahul Gandhi for 'Breaching Privilege'
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has demanded urgent privilege proceedings against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent speech in the Lok Sabha. Dubey accused Gandhi of breaching privilege by ridiculing the country and lowering its prestige in London.
In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Dubey alleged that Gandhi distorted facts and misused Article 105 of the Indian Constitution. During his speech, Gandhi claimed that China was sitting inside Indian territory due to the failure of the Make-in-India initiative. He also alleged that Foreign Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was sent to Washington to secure an invite for PM Modi's inauguration in India.
Gandhi, a prominent member of the Indian National Congress party, has been a vocal critic of the ruling BJP. His comments have sparked a fresh row in Indian politics.
Dubey's request for privilege proceedings against Gandhi comes amidst escalating political tensions. The Lok Sabha Speaker will now decide on the next course of action. Gandhi's allegations have not been substantiated and have been denied by the government.
