Political upheaval grips AAP's Delhi branch as 13 prominent councillors resign and establish Indraprastha Development Party. Their departure stems from dissatisfaction with the AAP-controlled government in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Mukesh Goel, a high-ranking AAP member and previous MCD Leader of the House, spearheads the newly formed group.

The Great Split in AAP's Delhi Council!

"BJP Accused of Purchasing Political Support... AAPClaims Election Manipulation as Thirteen Councillors Resign, Form New Political Group"

The political landscape of Delhi took an unexpected turn when 13 AAP councilors decided to ditch the party and form the fledgling Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP). The reason? They accused the AAP-led administration in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) of being a complete disaster. The veteran leader Mukesh Goel, formerly the Leader of the House in the MCD, is steering this new ship.

"We were supposed to bring about development, but we've been spinning our wheels for two and a half years now. It's pure mismanagement, failure to address internal conflicts, and a blame-game culture that crippled the system," Goel stated. Goel made it clear that IVP is all about focusing on fostering development within the MCD and providing a functional city to the people of Delhi.

A councilor, Himani Jain, echoed Goel's sentiments. "We came to serve the people, but nothing got done in the past two years. It's time we stand up and support who genuinely works for Delhi's development," she said.

With 13 councilors jumping ship, AAP's standing in the 250-member MCD has plummeted from 113 to 100. The BJP now reigns supreme with 117 seats, while the Congress clings to 8.

Political analysts have pointed out that the anti-defection law, which usually bars political defections, doesn't apply to municipal bodies like the MCD. As such, the breakaway councilors face no legal jeopardy.

While the BJP hasn't officially responded yet, AAP quick-fired allegations of large-scale horse-trading by the BJP. "Ever since we exposed their dirty tricks last time, they've been staging one drama after another, this time under a fancy new party name," AAP claimed.

Roots of the Split

The councilors' frustrations stem from several factors:

  1. Lack of Development: The councilors voiced their dissatisfaction with the absence of any meaningful development in their respective wards over the past two and a half years.
  2. Internal Fights and Blame-shifting Culture: Councillors complained about instances of internal feuds within AAP and a culture that dodged responsibilities. Their pleas to the leadership reportedly went unheard.
  3. Denial of Budgets: Senior councilor Mukesh Goyal alleged that budgets earmarked for development were denied.
  4. Mismanagement: The breakaway group accused AAP's top dogs of mismanaging the MCD for more than two years.
  5. Disconnect from Reality: Mukesh Goyal stated that the current leadership had lost touch with grassroots issues, mainly focusing on power struggles instead of serving people.

It appears that the Indraprastha Vikas Party aims to rectify this situation, focusing solely on revamping MCD governance and delivering real development for the people of Delhi.

  1. The departure of 13 AAP councilors has sparked discussions about the effectiveness of policy-and-legislation and politics in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), as they have founded the Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP) to address the lack of development and mismanagement.
  2. The agitated councilors have voiced concerns about the war-and-conflicts within AAP, including internal fights and a blame-game culture, which they claim crippled the MCD system, preventing any meaningful progress.
  3. Furthermore, the IVP has accused the AAP-led administration of denying budgets earmarked for development and mismanaging the MCD for over two years, leaving the general-news landscape of Delhi filled with dissatisfaction and calls for change.
  4. The new party aims to focus on fostering development within the MCD, addressing finance issues, and providing a functional city, potentially inspiring other groups in the market and crime-and-justice sectors to follow suit and seek more accountable governance in various fields.
