Biysk paralyzed by record snowfall as traffic chaos grips the city
Heavy snowfall has brought Biysk to a standstill, creating massive traffic jams across the city. Roads remain clogged well beyond the usual rush hour, with no sign of the gridlock easing. Drivers face severe delays as conditions worsen by the hour.
The worst congestion is along Sovetskaya Street, stretching from the descent toward Zelyony Klin all the way to the Lenta supermarket. Strong winds have swept snow across the roads, making travel even harder. One witness reported that two lanes have been squeezed into one due to the deep snow buildup.
The snow, compacted by constant traffic, has left roads uneven and treacherous. Drivers struggle to navigate the rough surface, slowing movement to a crawl. Unlike typical rush-hour delays, today's gridlock has lasted the entire day with no visible end in sight.
The ongoing snowfall and high winds continue to disrupt travel in Biysk. Roads remain partially blocked, forcing drivers into single-file queues. Authorities have yet to provide updates on when normal traffic flow might resume.
