Biysk builds new stormwater system to protect Kovalyevskoye Lake

Biysk has started building a new stormwater drainage system near Kovalyevskoye Lake. The project forms part of the city’s preparations for joining the federal programme Preservation of Unique Water Bodies. Work is already underway to protect the lake from pollution caused by runoff.

The first stage of the project focused on clearing the construction site and improving access roads. Workers then dug an excavation pit for the installation of localised treatment facilities. A foundation for a reinforced concrete chute was prepared and paved to guide water flow.

The drainage system will help filter pollutants before they reach Kovalyevskoye Lake. Once complete, the project will support Biysk’s involvement in the federal preservation programme. The city expects improved water quality as a direct result of these measures.
