Bison's outfielder George Springer begins his rehab assignment with the team, commencing from Thursday.

George Springer, the 35-year-old outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, is set to make a comeback to the major league lineup after a two-week absence due to a concussion. The veteran slugger was hit by a 96 mph fastball on July 28, causing him to be placed on the seven-day concussion injured list on August 1.

However, good news is on the horizon. Springer cleared the concussion protocol on August 13 and began his rehab assignment with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons the following day. John Schneider, the Blue Jays manager, announced that Springer will be the designated hitter on Thursday, August 14, in his first rehab game.

If all goes well in these rehab games, Springer could return to the Blue Jays' major league lineup as early as the weekend of August 16-17. The team is planning a cautious return, with at least one game as a designated hitter and possibly one in the outfield before full activation. The exact timing of Springer's full return to outfield action will depend on how he feels after his initial rehab games.

So far this season, Springer has been a valuable asset to the Blue Jays, hitting 18 home runs and accumulating 57 RBIs. In 101 games, he has maintained a batting average of .291. The team will undoubtedly be eager to have him back in the lineup, boosting their chances in the remaining games of the season.

The Buffalo Bisons, a team in the AAA league, will play a crucial role in Springer's return, providing him with the opportunity to get back into game shape before rejoining the major league squad. The Blue Jays are hopeful that Springer's return will mark a positive turn in their season.

George Springer's return to the major league lineup could revitalize the Blue Jays' sports performances, particularly in baseball, considering his impressive track record this season. After successful rehab games with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, Springer could potentially rejoin the Blue Jays' lineup for sports action as early as the weekend of August 16-17.
