Weekend Hockey Recap: Bisons' Offensive Blitz

Friday Night Showdown:

The Bisons took a trip to Stuttgart's capital for their first game this weekend.

The first period was a goalless duel, but in the second frame, Maurice Pietzka broke the deadlock with a power-play goal just 54 seconds in. The match heated up, ending with a physical altercation between Armin Wörz from Stuttgart and Marc Hemmerich from the Bisons, both receiving game misconducts before the second intermission.

In the third period, Steffen Bischoff (43.) and returning player Evan Carroll (45., PP1) wrapped up a dominant 3:0 (0:0/1:0/2:0) victory for the Bisons.

A Scorching Sunday Night:

Mannheim's winless second team visited the Eissportzentrum Pforzheim on Sunday evening. William Lundgren gave the Bisons an early lead, and Artur Gart extended it with a powerful shot. Alex Kepic (14., PP) and Evan Carroll (29.) added more for the Bisons, while Mannheim managed to score twice through Timo Adloff and Fabian Ring.

The second period saw Vladimir Viller restore the Bisons' three-goal lead, Marius Lorenz scoring a shorthanded goal, and a flurry of goals from Artur Gart (2), Vladimir Viller, and Hermann Jeckel. The Bisons' stunning display of scoring continued with Carroll (42., 45.), Gart (47.), and Hracek (49.), extending their lead to 15:3. Mannheim managed to score one more through Lucas Gerber in the final minutes.

The Bisons secured their place in the championship round with a comfortable 15:4 (4:2/7:1/4:1) victory. They currently hold second place in Group C, behind the Heilbronn Ice Bears.

Michael Kern from the Oberderdingen winery personally honored Maurice Vogel (Mannheim) and Artur Gart (Pforzheim) with a bottle of wine each, recognizing their outstanding performances.

The Bisons will close out their preliminary round away at ESG Esslingen on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

During the following football match in European-leagues, Serie-A, Evan Carroll will aim to maintain his impressive scoring form, having netted six goals over the weekend in ice hockey. On Saturday, the League's attention shifts from sports, as the Bisons face off against ESG Esslingen in a crucial match that could significantly impact their standings.
