Billy Joel's tribute concert and a swing-infused trip down memory lane at Hamburg's Music Summer event
Get ready for a summer filled with music in the picturesque town of Homburg! The Homburg Music Summer is set to begin this weekend on the Historic Market Square, with a diverse lineup of events that will continue until mid-September.
Kicking off the festivities is the Billy Joel tribute band, "All About Joel," led by Thomas Matiszik. On Friday, July 25th, at 7 PM, the six-piece band will perform hits such as Piano Man, Uptown Girl, and We Didn't Start the Fire, paying tribute to the influential singer-songwriter.
The "Singin' Birds," a jazz ensemble inspired by the 1930s style, will also take to the stage on Saturday, July 26th, at 11 AM. These graduates of the Chopin Music Conservatory in Warsaw are sure to delight with their smooth, swinging tunes.
The Homburg Music Summer event is organized by the IG Homburger Altstadt e.V. and the city of Homburg. However, temporary closures may occur in the St.-Michael-Straße area due to the high visitor numbers during these events. The security service will manage these closures as needed.
As the summer progresses, the Historic Market Square will host daytime performances and evening concerts featuring bands like Querbeat and the Barrelhouse Jazzband. On August 8th and 22nd, Querbeat will perform "Blues Company" and "Revengers," respectively. The Barrelhouse Jazzband will treat listeners to a jazz brunch on August 16th.
The core program for the Historic Market Square also includes the 14th Homburg Classical Open Air with the Homburg Symphony Orchestra titled “Aura Italiana” on August 16th, starting at 8 p.m. at Christian-Weber-Platz. Tickets for this special event are available for purchase.
Other musical events connected to the Music Summer but not on the Historic Market Square include "Morley" at the Roman Museum Schwarzenacker on August 21st. Additionally, there are related musical events on the square with free admission on August 16th and 22nd.
