Buffalo Bills Face Challenges as Key Players Miss Thursday's Game Against Miami Dolphins

The Buffalo Bills, currently undefeated with a 2-0 record, are set to face the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, but they will do so without the services of two key players. Linebacker Matt Milano and defensive tackle Ed Oliver will both be sidelined due to pectoral and ankle injuries, respectively.

Matt Milano, a fifth-round draft pick by Buffalo in 2017, has made 96 career appearances (80 starts) with 513 tackles (60 for loss), 42 QB hits, 10 interceptions, 39 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and 11 fumble recoveries. His absence will be a significant loss for the Bills' defense, as he has played in just nine games over the past two seasons due to a broken leg in 2023 and torn biceps in 2024.

Coach Sean McDermott has not provided a clear timeline for Milano's return, and the recovery process for his injury is still uncertain, depending on how the injury progresses.

Defensive tackle Ed Oliver, drafted No. 9 overall by the Bills in 2019, has played in 93 career games (84 starts) with 237 tackles (52 for loss), 73 QB hits, 28 sacks, nine forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. His absence will also be felt, as he has been a consistent force on the Bills' defensive line.

The Bills will look to their replacements, Andre Smith and DaQuan Jones, to fill the void left by Milano and Oliver.

Taron Johnson (quad), Cam Lewis (shoulder), and Shaq Thompson (hamstring/hand) are questionable for the game against the Miami Dolphins. Johnson, Lewis, and Thompson have been limited in practice leading up to the game.

The Miami Dolphins, currently 0-2 in the season, will be hoping to capitalize on the Bills' injuries and secure their first win of the season. The game promises to be an exciting contest, with both teams eager to prove their mettle.
