Gates, known for his philanthropic work, discussed the situation in his podcast 'Gates Hills - Senf aus Hollywood'. He expressed his upset with tabloids for spreading false information about his involvement in the series.
Contrary to speculation, Gates stated that he could not accept the role due to scheduling conflicts. Netflix confirmed this, clarifying that Gates was never officially confirmed for the lead role. Tim Sander, known from 'Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten', will now take over the lead role in 'The Comeback'.
