Biking enthusiasts to stage a public showcase this Sunday afternoon
On September 21st, the "Kidical Mass" action alliance is organising a bicycle demonstration in the Cologne city area. The demonstration, which is scheduled from 3 PM to 4:15 PM, is expected to have up to 2,500 participants.
The demonstration will start from various neighbourhoods on both sides of the Rhine, with thirteen processions registered with the Cologne police. These processions will merge into one another along the way, culminating in a large group that will drive through the city centre in a loop.
The main group will meet at Rudolfplatz, and the demonstration route will include a pass through the city centre and conclude at Stadtgarden, Spichernstraße. The use of main axes and Rhine bridges during the demonstration may cause significant traffic impacts, and the Cologne police is urging those not involved in the demonstration to take this into account in their plans.
The organization responsible for the "Kidical Mass" action alliance is the national campaign alliance "Kinder aufs Rad" (Children on Bikes), with participation and support from the ADFC (General German Bicycle Club) and local groups. These organizations advocate for child-friendly and safe mobility, and they organise nationwide demonstrations promoting these causes.
The Cologne police is appealing to those not involved to take traffic disruptions into account in their plans, ensuring a safe and smooth flow of traffic during the demonstration.
