36-year-old's Motorcycle Mishap

Last Sunday afternoon (15.06.2025), a grim incident occurred when a 36-year-old fellow swooned over the handlebars of his Suzuki motorcycle. The mishap transpired on Feithstraße as he barreled towards Eppenhauser Straße around 12:45 PM. At the junction with Weißdornweg, the man crashed into the curb, and then (ouch!) a street lighting post.

The accident left our buddy with some nasty injuries, putting his life on the edge. Bystanders lent a helping hand, administered first aid, and summoned the emergency services. They rushed him to a local hospital, where he's currently receiving treatment.

The cops showed up at the scene, sealing off the area for what seemed like an eternity. An investigation team combed through the crash site, probing for any clues. It appears that high speed might have been a factor; the authorities suspect that the man lost control of his motorcycle due to excessive velocity. The poor Suzuki suffered severe damage and was towed away like a broken dream. The curb and the street lamp also bore the brunt of the hit.

Thankfully, the man's life no longer hangs in the balance, and he's making progress with his recovery.

Germany, being a land of rules, sets speed limits for motorcycles akin to other vehicles. Generally, it's:

  • City life: 50 km/h (31 mph)
  • Country roads: 100 km/h (62 mph)
  • Autobahn, well, it's a wild card: no general speed limit on many stretches but careful observation of signage is essential. Speed limits can pop up on Autobahn sections, and motorcycles must abide by them if they appear.

Though specific Herne speed regulations couldn't be pinned down, these general German motorcycle speed guidelines apply. If you desire the rock-solid, location-specific regulations for Herne, your best bet is to consult the local traffic authority (Straßenverkehrsamt) or city website.

In light of the motorcycle accident that occurred on Feithstraße last Sunday, it is crucial to adhere to the speed limits while driving motorcycles, especially in cities where the limit is 50 km/h (31 mph). It is suspected that the 36-year-old's high speed may have contributed to the accident, raising concerns about adherence to traffic rules in Germany.
