In a nail-biting turn of events, the Waiakea Lady Warriors fought like cornered tigers in Game 2 of the BIIF Division I softball semifinals. With elimination looming large, they managed to turn the tide against Kealakehe, dominating with a 15-4 rout in Hilo town.

The scoreboard now stands even at 1-1, setting up a thrilling Game 3 showdown at Waiakea today, at 3 PM. This decisive match will decide who gets to challenge the undefeated Hilo team in the championship match.

The Lady Warriors kicked off the game with a bang, with Lexi Santiago sending a powerful triple into left field. First baseman Tehani Chinen and catcher Kaelyn Sewake capitalized on the opportunity, each smashing a double to left, scoring a run apiece.

Sewake continued her hot streak in the second inning, knocking in two more runs with a single. The Lady Warriors added to their lead in the third when second baseman Keani Kaneshiro drove in a run with an RBI groundout. Over the next three innings, they piled on seven more runs, reaching the run-rule limit after six innings.

Chinen was the star of the show, recording three hits in total, while Santiago and Sewake each notched up two hits. Kaneshiro, Jayda Kaimi, and Tinei Soi contributed one hit each to Waiakea's tally.

On the mound, Kaitlyn Miura showed her worth, allowing only four hits and four runs while striking out six. She leads her team in various categories, including innings pitched (24.0), wins (three), strikeouts (40), and sporting a decent 2.63 ERA.

Kealakehe's Rhianna Joaquin, their leadoff batter, led her team with two hits in Game 2. Freeda Tosie and first baseman Lai Micheli-Kaimola chipped in with one hit each. Emalia Emmsley, who clinched the win for Kealakehe in Game 1, was their lone pitcher once more. She struggled somewhat, giving away 10 hits and 15 runs while recording five strikeouts in the loss. Emmsley usually dominates the mound, leading her team in innings pitched (45.0), wins (four), strikeouts (44), and posting a 3.58 ERA.

Kaneshiro, the second baseman, drove in a run with an RBI groundout in Game 2, contributing to Waiakea's dominating 15-4 victory.
