Bihar's Government Accused of Plagiarizing Tejashwi Yadav's Free Electricity Scheme, Yadav Declares
In a recent interview with the Associated Press of India (ANI), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav accused the Bihar government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, of copying his idea of providing free electricity. Yadav, who had promised 200 units of free electricity in his pre-election manifesto, suggested that the Bihar CM ended up implementing the scheme after Yadav proposed it. However, it's important to note that there is no direct evidence of an accusation from Yadav about copying the scheme.
Yadav also expressed concern over the rising crime rate in Bihar, stating that murders are occurring every day and criminals are going around fearlessly. He mentioned an "atmosphere" of fear in the state, with businessmen and professionals wanting to leave. One of the recent incidents that sparked concern was the shooting at Paras Hospital in Patna earlier today. Unidentified assailants opened fire inside the hospital, targeting a prisoner named Chandan Mishra, who was admitted for medical treatment.
Chandan Mishra was a notorious criminal, convicted in several murder cases. The DGP of Bihar, Vinay Kumar, termed the incident as "unfortunate" and stated that the hospital has its own security arrangements, which were breached during the incident. The DGP intends to draw the attention of the Paras Hospital management regarding the incident and will review the security system, including who was on duty during the incident.
The free electricity scheme, if implemented, is expected to benefit around 1.67 crore families in Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that eligible domestic consumers in Bihar will receive up to 125 units of electricity free of cost starting August 1. However, Yadav implied that there is nobody to pay heed to the issues in Bihar and that the government is not showing any vision or having any achievements.
The accusations and concerns raised by Tejashwi Yadav highlight the political and social issues Bihar is currently facing. The state government will need to address these concerns to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
