A Fairer Living for Nine Underserved Tribal Groups
Bihar government to construct permanent dwellings for the nine susceptible indigenous tribes' residents.
In an ambitious move to bolster the socio-economic conditions of nine Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) residing in Bihar, the state administration has decided to offer them durable dwellings, abounding in modern facilities, under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) initiative.
PVTGs to Receive Homes in 10 Bihar Districts
This housing project aims to benefit those PVTGs living in ten specific districts of the state, which include: Ashur, Birhor, Birajiya, Hilkhariya, Korwa, Malpaharia, Parhaiya, Suryapahadia, and Sawar tribes.
Financial Assistance and Additional Benefits
Up to ₹2 lakh will be distributed to eligible families, on a 4-installment basis, directly to their bank accounts as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Furthermore, the benefits include:
- A one-time wage of nearly ₹27,000 from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
- Financial aid of approximately ₹12,000 for toilet construction through the Swachh Bharat Mission.
In total, each family will receive a combined financial assistance of approximately ₹2.39 lakh.
Beyond Housing: Additional Measures to Boost Female Employee Safety
The Bihar government has further decided to arrange safe accommodation for female employees close to their workplaces by leasing private properties. Naturally, the government will shoulder the requisite expenses. This initiative is designed to ensure the safety and well-being of female employees across the state.
Streamlining Birth and Death Certificate Issuance
Finally, the cabinet approved a proposal from the Planning Department to improve the efficiency of birth and death certificate issuance in Bihar under the Bihar Birth and Death Certificates, 2025. This reform will result in the digital issuance of certificates, enhancing efficiency for the citizens.
The Indian government, through the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), is providing financial assistance of approximately ₹2.39 lakh to nine particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) living in Bihar, including Ashur, Birhor, Birajiya, Hilkhariya, Korwa, Malpaharia, Parhaiya, Suryapahadia, and Sawar tribes.
