The upcoming elections in Bihar are proving to be a critical test for the Congress party, as seat-sharing negotiations grow more complex due to the declaration of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to contest every seat.

The Congress party is considering adjusting seat allocations to benefit its partners and itself in the elections. This decision comes after leaders expressed dissatisfaction with the seat selection in the last election, citing an allocation of several weak constituencies.

As part of its strategy to strengthen the alliance, the party is considering seat exchanges and reductions to ensure better prospects for its partners and itself in the high-stakes elections later this year. This move is aimed at balancing ally interests and managing internal demands.

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, has been scheduled to lead rallies and programs across Bihar ahead of the elections. His role as the leader of the election campaign events in Bihar is a clear indication of his intent for a prominent leadership role. However, he has avoided a direct response to Yadav's declaration, signaling a potential power struggle within the Mahagathbandhan.

The RJD leader's intent for a prominent leadership role is also evident in his declaration to contest every seat. This move has prompted further discussions among Mahagathbandhan partners, adding to the complexity of the seat-sharing negotiations.

In addition, the Congress party has received over 3,000 applications from those seeking to contest in more than 90 constituencies. This high number of applicants further complicates the seat-sharing negotiations, as the party needs to find a fair and strategic distribution of seats to ensure the best chances of success in the elections.

As the elections approach, the Congress party faces a challenging task in navigating the complex seat-sharing negotiations, while also managing internal demands and maintaining its alliance with the RJD. The outcome of these negotiations will be closely watched as they could determine the party's fate in the upcoming Bihar elections.
