Biel Awards Five Artists Two-Year Grants to Elevate Local Culture

The city of Biel has awarded five local artists with two-year grants to boost the cultural scene. Each recipient will receive up to CHF 20,000 annually for the 2026–2027 cycle. This marks the latest round of a funding programme running since 2020.

A total of 38 artists applied for this year’s grants. From these, five were chosen across different creative fields. The selected individuals include Tobias Aeschbacher in comics, Beth Dillon in visual arts, Fanny Krähenbühl in performing arts, Luise Maier in literature, and Paquita Maria in music.

The five new grantees will now begin their two-year funding period. Their projects will contribute to Biel’s cultural landscape over the next two years. The programme continues to expand, with further cycles expected in the future.
