The second half of Biden's term (2021-2025), according to Trump, was marred by a calculated cover-up of Biden's true mental and physical condition to deceive the public. On top of that, evidence suggests that Biden's signature was forged under documents using a special machine, the autopen, even when there were "tell-tale signs" that Biden wasn't mentally fit to continue in office.
Once more, Trump is peddling a popular conspiracy theory that's been making the rounds in the right-wing circles. This theory claims that Biden's actions, such as the pardons he made before stepping down, are null and void because an autopen was used. The conspiracy theorists argue that Biden neither signed the documents himself nor was aware of them, which would make his aides guilty of abusing their power.
Previous presidents have also employed mechanical signature assistance for pardons and other documents. Trump himself admitted months ago that he uses an autopen - but only for non-critical papers. However, the crux here lies in the fact that Biden's signature was used on decisions of great importance, according to the memo that's now making waves.
Reference to Biden's "cognitive decline"
The record shows that Biden, who left office at 82, had been grappling with cognitive decline for years. This is why Biden's public appearances and press conferences have been few and far between. The man is currently battling prostate cancer too.
In his memo, Trump levies serious accusations against the Democrat, including the practice of pardoning several serious criminals. However, it's worth nothing that Trump himself pardoned all participants in the January 6, 2021 Capitol storm just hours into his second term - including violent offenders who brutalized police officers and notorious white supremacists who orchestrated the attack remotely.
Biden has dismissed Trump's allegations as sheer nonsense. "Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency," Biden told US media. "I decided on pardons, decrees, laws, and proclamations." Trump, it seems, is just trying to divert attention from the disastrous tax and spending bill he's pushing through Congress, according to Biden.
