German Actor Sky du Mont Bids Farewell to Cinema

He jokingly expressed concern about being an old actor on screen, stating that he does not want to end up in diapers and in a wheelchair in front of the camera.

Du Mont's retirement plans were first announced to the "Bild" newspaper in March, and he reiterated his intentions at the premiere of "Das Kanu des Manitu." The actor, who starred alongside Tom Cruise in Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut," has confirmed that he will not be working in cinema again.

At the premiere, du Mont received a standing ovation, which he acknowledged in an Instagram story. His post expressed gratitude for 55 years of film and TV work, marking the end of an era in German cinema.
