Bicyclist Struck by Vehicle in Cologne-Sülz
In the early hours of the 11th of July, a tragic incident occurred in the Sülz district of Cologne. A cyclist, aged 27, was hit by a car on Blankenheimer Street, close to Auerbach Street, around 1:20 AM.
The cyclist sustained severe head injuries in the collision and subsequent fall. Despite the seriousness of the accident, the driver failed to stop and offer assistance. Instead, the car, later identified as a Ford Focus, reportedly accelerated and reversed against the one-way street, disappearing in an unknown direction.
The vehicle involved in the accident was stolen previously in March 2025 in Cologne-Niehl. Witnesses are urged to contact Cologne police with any information that could help identify the driver and progress the investigation.
The police are actively seeking information about the ongoing investigation on Blankenheimer Street. Witnesses are asked to assist in identifying the driver who did not help the injured cyclist. The cyclist is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
