Bicycling exhibit spans over 40 kilometers across Rödinghausen's district

In the picturesque district of Herford, Germany, Uwe Nolte, the traffic safety expert at the Road Traffic Office, led the sixth bicycle traffic inspection of the year on September 12, 2025. This inspection, part of regular traffic inspections conducted at intervals, aimed to ensure the safety and comfort of cyclists using the district's extensive network of bicycle routes.

The 40-kilometer tour started at the House of Guests at Pemberville Platz 1. The route included popular cycling destinations such as Bruchmühlen, Ostkilver, Schwenningdorf, and Bieren. Participants from the Road Traffic Office, the Department of Traffic Routes and Green Spaces of the district, the police, the State Office for Roads NRW, and the municipality of Rödinghausen were involved in the inspection.

The experts inspected various aspects of the bicycle paths, including the visibility and stability of traffic signs, the condition of the roads and paths, height differences between the road and the shoulder, and possible restrictions of the field of vision. They also examined bollard locations to review their necessity according to state regulations.

The maintenance and expansion of the intermunicipal bicycle network with high comfort and safety for cyclists were recognised as key contributors to the district's status as a bicycle-friendly area, a title it officially received last year. Safety measures such as the elimination of accident hotspots, the installation of digital dialogue displays (speed displays), and the newly established bicycle traffic inspections have significantly improved cycling conditions in the district.

The Herford District also offers popular cycling safety training for pedelec and e-bike users, in collaboration with the District Sports Association and the police. Additionally, the district's Geoportal provides access to various cycling routes, including everyday cycle paths, nature trails, and day tours, making it easier for citizens to plan their cycling journeys.

However, the search results do not provide specific information about which authorities and organisations will be involved in the next bicycle traffic inspections in the district of Herford. Nonetheless, with Uwe Nolte's commitment to traffic safety and the district's ongoing efforts to improve cycling conditions, cyclists in Herford can look forward to safe and enjoyable cycling experiences in the future.
