The Cartel Senate convened at the hearing to ponder whether EnBW's ownership rights continued post-contract expiration, as well as the necessity of a "transparent, non-discriminatory procedure" for future operations. While the city initiated such a process, it was soon halted. In 2016, the city council voted for the city itself to become the network's owner and operator.
With intrigue and stakes high, the Federal Court of Justice will finally reveal its decision to bring some level of closure to this long-standing dispute facing Stuttgart and EnBW.
