Beyond Meat's Burger and Steak Earn Historic Climate Solution Certification
Beyond Meat has become the first plant-based meat company to earn climate solution certification for two of its products. The Beyond Burger IV and Beyond Steak now qualify under the Exponential Roadmap Initiative's Climate Solution Framework. This recognition applies only to U.S. production and remains valid until February 2027. Founded in 2009, Beyond Meat aims to tackle climate change and reduce pressure on natural resources. The company's plant-based products, free from GMOs, hormones, and cholesterol, mimic the taste and texture of traditional meat. Their brand promise, Eat What You Love®, encourages consumers to make choices that benefit both personal health and the environment.
The Beyond Burger and Beyond Steak produce at least 50% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than the average beef equivalent. A two-pack of Beyond Burger, for example, uses 97% less land, 92% less water, and emits 88% fewer greenhouse gases compared to a standard U.S. beef patty. Beyond Meat also holds the Clean Label Project Certification, marking it as the first in its category to achieve this standard. The shift from animal to plant-based protein, according to the company, supports improvements in human health, climate impact, and animal welfare.
The certification covers Beyond Burger IV and Beyond Steak until early 2027. These products now stand as the first plant-based meats officially recognised as climate solutions. The company continues to expand its portfolio with sustainability and health as core priorities.
