Beyoncé progresses towards achieving EGOT status, currently halfway through the milestone.
In a recent development, Beyoncé has added another feather to her cap by winning an Emmy for Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming for the Netflix special Beyoncé Bowl. This victory brings her one step closer to achieving the prestigious EGOT status, which is awarded to individuals who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award in competitive categories.
Beyoncé's Emmy win was among a handful of juried Emmys announced on Tuesday, determined outside the regular voting process. It's worth noting that these awards are usually given out by a committee for highly technical categories that rarely go to famous names. This Emmy win, however, was well-deserved, as the special Beyoncé Bowl was a visual spectacle that showcased Beyoncé's impeccable style and creativity.
Beyoncé's Emmy win shares the honour with Shiona Turini, Erica Rice and Molly Peters, Chelsea Staebell, and Timothy White.
Meanwhile, in the world of music, Billie Eilish and Finneas won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2022 for "No Time to Die." However, Beyoncé was also nominated for an Oscar that year for Best Original Song for "Be Alive" from the 2022 film King Richard. Although she didn't take home the statuette that night, her nomination underscores her continued dominance in the music industry.
As of August 2025, no person currently holds nominations in all four categories simultaneously, but several prominent artists are nearing EGOT status with some current award nominations. Cynthia Erivo, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé are among those artists who are getting closer to achieving EGOT status. Cynthia Erivo is very close, with a 2025 Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her role in Wicked. She already holds a Tony, a Grammy, and an Emmy.
Beyoncé, who already has multiple Grammys plus recent Oscar nominations, still requires a Tony to complete her EGOT collection. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, has Grammys, an Oscar for Best Original Song, and an Emmy but still needs a Tony.
Other notable near-EGOT artists include Helen Mirren (needs a Grammy), Common (needs a Tony), and Lin-Manuel Miranda (needs a Tony), among others.
