Beyoncé Launches Cowboy Carter Tour, Joined by Her Two Daughters in Supportive Roles
Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour Turns Up the Heat
Beyoncé kicked off her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour in a grand fashion at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, demonstrating that this ain't Queen Bey's first rodeo. The concert was a celebration of Southern Black culture, freedom of expression, and Beyoncé's own family.
The three-hour performance featured approximately 35 songs spanning her robust catalog, from 2008's "I Am... Sasha Fierce" to 2022's "Renaissance" and, naturally, last year's "Cowboy Carter."
The stage was adorned with giant LED screens where visuals of Beyoncé wearing a sash that read "Reclamation of America" were displayed. Other images included American flag-covered coffins with text that read "history can't be erased." Pyrotechnics added a dramatic flair, especially when Beyoncé first walked out, clad in an all-white fringed bodysuit and singing "American Requiem."
Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter made special appearances, dancing and performing with their mom. The show was packed with powerful performances, including Beyoncé flying through the air while suspended on a giant horseshoe, singing "Tyrant" on a mechanical bull, and performing at a piano that was lit on fire.
Beyoncé will take her tour to Chicago on May 15 after her run in Los Angeles. The album, which features collaborations with Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson, broke several records on the Billboard charts and won a Grammy for album of the year in January.
The Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour is more than just a music event. It's a tribute to Black musical heritage, mirroring the venue network that supported Black artists during segregation and featuring a five-pointed star stage and LED-equipped ramps that evoke rodeo aesthetics and the resilience of Chitlin’ Circuit performers. Beyoncé aims to "reconnect audiences with a history they’ve been separated from," emphasizing themes of racial exclusion and cultural preservation.
While specifics about collaborations remain unconfirmed, Beyoncé's past tours have featured surprise guest appearances, particularly in cities where family or industry ties are strong. The tour is expected to blend "Cowboy Carter" tracks with material from her broader catalog, with potential interludes or abbreviated versions of songs from her albums like "Lemonade" and "Formation."
