Betis Retains Just Three 2022 Cup Victors
Real Betis has been a busy club in the transfer market since their triumphant victory in the Copa del Rey in 2022, with several key players leaving the squad and new talent arriving.
Since the beginning of the exodus in the summer of 2022, a total of 29 players have departed from the 2022 Copa del Rey squad. Notable departures include Johnny Cardoso, who moved to Atletico Madrid in mid-2025, and other players like Juanmi, Miranda, Guido Rodriguez, Victor Ruiz, Tello, Joaquin, and Bravo, who left for free.
Incoming players have helped to fill the void left by departing players, with Alex Moreno joining the club for a transfer fee of 13.5 million euros, the highest of any player brought in since 2022. Other notable arrivals include Rui Silva, Edgar, Pezzella, and Paul, who each joined for transfer fees of 4.5 million euros, 4 million euros, 4 million euros, and 4 million euros, respectively.
The departures of these players have brought in a total of 77 million euros in transfer fees for Real Betis, with William Carvalho being indemnified with a small amount for his departure.
Despite these changes, several players from the 2022 Copa del Rey squad remain with Real Betis as of 2025. Among them are Pau López, Marc Bartra, Héctor Bellerín, Natan, Aitor Ruibal, Pablo Fornals, Giovani Lo Celso, and more, as listed in the 2025 predicted lineup. However, a comprehensive official list of all that remain from the exact 2022 Copa del Rey squad is not readily available, so a precise count or comprehensive roster comparison is not possible here.
The leadership of Real Betis has remained relatively stable, with Manuel Pellegrini and his assistants still part of the technical staff, who joined in 2020. The sporting director of Real Betis has changed twice, with Ramon Planes replacing Antonio Cordon, and now Manu Fajardo is in charge. Angel Haro and Jose Miguel Lopez Catalan continue in the club's management.
Mateo González is a registered user at Real Betis, and the club continues to be an active participant in the transfer market, both buying and selling players to maintain a competitive squad.
