Betis' ascent continues in the UEFA Rankings
The UEFA club rankings for the upcoming 2025-26 season have been released, and some familiar names are at the top. As expected, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich continue to dominate, with Real Madrid holding the number one spot and Bayern Munich close behind.
Real Madrid's strong performance in the Champions League and other UEFA competitions has earned them the top position, a testament to their consistent excellence. Bayern Munich, too, has shown impressive form, securing the second spot in the rankings, reflecting their consistent success in the Champions League and European competitions.
Barcelona, despite financial constraints that limit new signings, remains a top contender. The Catalan club had an attacking season recently, scoring 102 goals, and came close to reaching the Champions League final. Although they fell short, their performance is a clear indication of their enduring strength.
Germany is also well-represented in the top 10, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen joining Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. While these German clubs are competitive in UEFA competitions, they are placed lower than the traditional giants like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. They have been consistent performers in the Europa League and sometimes in the Champions League, but have not recently matched the top-tier success of those clubs.
A surprise entrant in the top 30 is Real Betis, who have qualified for UEFA competitions. However, their position in the rankings is more modest compared to the others, indicating more modest progress in European competitions. Betis will return to the UEFA Europa League on the 24th or 25th of September in the league phase, marking their return to European competition.
Manuel Pellegrini, who arrived at Betis in the 2020-21 season, has been instrumental in their rise. The deletion of the results of the 2020-21 season caused Betis to climb to the 33rd position in the UEFA Ranking, overtaking Villarreal, Aston Villa, and Napoli. As of now, Betis has 52,250 points.
Spain and Germany have two clubs each in the top 10 of the ranking, reflecting the strong European football culture in these countries. The ranking measures the performance of teams in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League, providing a comprehensive overview of each club's European prowess.
The updated UEFA 2025 club ranking was released this Wednesday, offering fans and pundits alike a glimpse into the upcoming season's most anticipated matches and competitions. With Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and the rest of the top clubs gearing up for the new season, it promises to be an exciting time for European football.
