Berry's Ex-Partner Offers Further Insights After viral remarks about Halle Berry's parenting skills and beyond
In a recent interview on the "All the Smoke" podcast, David Justice, Halle Berry's former spouse from 1993 to 1997, reflected on the dynamics of their marriage. Justice suggested that the relationship ended partly due to his traditional expectations and immaturity about relationships, stating that Berry "don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem motherly."
However, it seems that Berry is currently enjoying a different dynamic in her relationship with musician Van Hunt. Despite Van Hunt proposing earlier this year, Berry has yet to formally accept. The engagement is currently on hold, and an insider believes that the couple will eventually get married.
In a post on her Instagram, Berry shared photos of herself having fun and drinking wine, captioned "Phew...! cooking, cleaning and mothering." This post, along with a video of Berry dancing to Hunt's music during Christmas celebrations in 2020, suggests that Berry and Hunt are comfortable in their relationship without the need for public validation through an engagement.
Justice, on the other hand, appears content in his life with Rebecca Villalobos, whom he married in 2004. At the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation 25th Anniversary Celebrity Dinner, Justice addressed false rumors suggesting he had been abusive to Berry, clarifying that a former boyfriend of Berry's was responsible for past abuse and that Berry never publicly cleared Justice's name, which he found unfair.
It's worth noting that both Berry and Hunt have been married before. Berry was also involved in a public feud with Justice in 2025, when he made controversial comments about their marriage on the "All the Smoke" podcast. However, recent reports suggest that Justice has since changed his tune, no longer aiming to make comments about his famous ex or any other man's woman.
Despite the issues that led to the end of their marriage, Justice believes that their relationship could have been saved had they known about therapy at the time. He even praised Villalobos for qualities he appreciates, without explicitly mentioning Berry.
As of now, Berry and Hunt's relationship status remains unclear. The actress has yet to formally respond publicly to Justice's specific comments about their marriage. Regardless, it seems that Berry is enjoying her current relationship with Hunt, and the couple continues to spend time together, as evidenced by their Christmas celebrations in 2020.
