Karlsruher SC (KSC) has announced the signing of Danish goalkeeper Hans Christian Bernat, who will join the club for the 2025/26 season. The 24-year-old keeper comes to KSC from Bulgarian top-flight club Botev Plovdiv, where he played 37 official games and kept 14 clean sheets.

Bernat's arrival at KSC follows the departure of Max Weiß, who has joined English Premier League newcomers FC Burnley. The transfer fee for Weiß's move from KSC to FC Burnley is reported to be at least €4 million.

Weiß, a former starting goalkeeper for KSC, had a successful tenure with the club, but his departure marks a significant event in his career as he moves from the Bundesliga to the English Premier League.

Mario Eggimann, sporting director of KSC, described Bernat as a strong and mentally robust goalkeeper, making him an ideal fit for the team in the 2. Bundesliga.

Bernat has experience with several Danish youth national teams and developed through the youth academy of Odense BK in Denmark. His impressive performances in Bulgaria have caught the attention of KSC, who see him as the perfect replacement for Weiß.

KSC was reportedly close to signing Bernat, according to the "Badischen Neuesten Nachrichten". With Bernat's arrival, KSC has a new number one goalkeeper to lead their defence in the upcoming season.

Weiß's departure from KSC has prompted the club to sign a new goalkeeper, ensuring continuity in their goalkeeping department. The additional funds from Weiß's transfer will undoubtedly help KSC in their pursuit of a successful season in the 2. Bundesliga.

The community aid of KSC is being utilized to fund the acquisition of Danish goalkeeper Hans Christian Bernat, who will receive vocational training as he transitions to the European-leagues, specifically the 2. Bundesliga. Coincidentally, Bernat could potentially use his football skills to engage in sports activities during his spare time, such as playing football within the community.
