Ahrensfelde encounters a crushing 5-0 defeat at the hands of Union Berlin - Berlin's Union team clinches a resounding 5-0 victory in Ahrensfelde

In a strong display during their second friendly match of the pre-season tour, 1. FC Union Berlin defeated Grün-Weiss Ahrensfelde 5-0 at the Sportpark Ahrensfelde on July 13, 2025.

The first half of the match saw a flurry of goals for Union Berlin. Andrej Ilic opened the scoring in the 15th minute, with further goals following at the 21st, 41st, and 44th minutes from Ilic, Ivan Ljubicic, and A-junior Suheib-Elias Ali, respectively.

Unfortunately, Livan Burcu was forced to leave the field in the first half due to an injury sustained from a tackle, affecting his foot. Despite this setback, Union Berlin continued to dominate the match.

In the second half, Lucas Tousart scored a goal in the 67th minute, and Oliver Burke, who recently joined Union Berlin, scored his first goal for the club in the 80th minute. Yannic Stein made an appearance in the second half, providing additional offensive threat.

Steffen Baumgart, Union Berlin's head coach, fielded 22 players throughout the match, ensuring that many players received valuable practice time.

Following this impressive victory, Union Berlin will face tougher opponents in Austria. On July 19, 2025, at 16:00, they will take on LASK in the Raiffeisen Arena, Linz, and on July 20, 2025, at the same time, they will face Rapid Wien in the Allianz Stadion, Vienna. These matches mark the second week of Union Berlin's preparation for the upcoming season.

After their matches in Austria, Union Berlin will head to a training camp in Herzogenaurach from July 23 to August 1.

Meanwhile, Frederic Rönnow, who did not play in the Ahrensfelde match, was busy signing autographs for young fans in Ahrensfelde. Union Berlin's new signing, Matheo Raab, also made his debut in this match.
