Woohoo! Get ready to witness some athletic action, Berlin! Olympic shot put champ, Yemisi Ogunleye, joins a host of other heavyweights at the ISTAF athletics meet in the city's Olympic Stadium. According to meeting director Martin Seeber, "this year's event promises a star-studded lineup, jaw-dropping competitions, and a vibrant festival atmosphere," he declared.
On July 27, prepare to be spellbound as athletes like Ogunleye, long jump champ Malaika Mihambo, sprinter Gina Lückenkemper, hurdler Gesa Krause, and javelin thrower Julian Weber test their skills.
Unlike previous editions that took place post European or World Championships, this time around, athletes are using ISTAF as part of their season's build-up. The national championships are slated for the following weekend in Dresden, while the World Championships in Tokyo will be the ultimate showdown from September 13 to 21.
With more than a dozen events lined up, there's plenty to keep the spectators entertained! Gesa Krause will even compete in an unusual hurdles race over 2,000 meters instead of the traditional 3,000 meters.
It's interesting to note that other athletes at the ISTAF meet, including Yemisi Ogunleye, were recently spotted at the Indoor-ISTAF Berlin 2025 event[2].
