A 62-year-old defendant, who served as a manager, stands accused of embezzling company funds over a period of approximately 14 years, from January 2009 to February 2023. The trial, which took place in the Berlin Regional Court, began around three years ago.

Initially, the prosecution alleged 293 counts of fraud, but most of these cases were later dropped. The defendant is said to have approved false invoices issued by several logistics companies to enrich himself and his accomplices.

The embezzlement involved assets worth an estimated 6.3 million euros, and the prosecution seeks their seizure. Two men and one woman were sentenced to suspended prison terms for aiding and abetting embezzlement by the Berlin Regional Court in late 2022.

The trial against the manager was separated due to health reasons and resumed on July 22, 2022. The defendant now faces a prison sentence of three years and three months. However, two months of the sentence imposed on Friday were deemed served due to procedural delays.

It is important to note that Axel Springer, a media conglomerate, was not directly mentioned as being involved in the embezzlement in this case. The embezzlement occurred at a company in Berlin, but further or more targeted sources may be needed to confirm any direct association with Springer or Berlin logistics companies.

The prosecution has not disclosed any new information about their request or the defendant's defense. Similarly, no new information about the amount of fraud or the assets to be seized was provided in the latest court proceedings.

The ex-Jump manager, who is currently in Berlin, was convicted of embezzlement and disloyalty, a crime under the category of crime-and-justice, and could spend three years and three months in prison, as part of the general-news in Berlin. Despite the trial resuming in July 2022 due to health reasons, the details of the prosecution's request or the defendant's defense remain undisclosed, falling under the category of politics.
