Berlin Theater Meeting: Jury Presents 10-Selection - Berliner Theatertreffen 2026 Unveils Top German-Language Plays in May

The 63rd Berliner Theatertreffen is set to run from May 1 to 17, 2026. This year's festival will showcase ten standout productions from German-speaking countries. Organisers have yet to reveal which plays will feature in the lineup.

The festival returns to the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and other venues across the city. As usual, it will highlight the most remarkable German-language theatre of the past year. Productions from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will compete for a place in the final selection.

The official list of invited shows will be announced today at 11:00 AM. A jury of theatre experts has reviewed dozens of performances to choose the final ten. The decision comes after months of evaluations and discussions.

Once the lineup is confirmed, tickets will go on sale for the May event. The festival remains one of the most prestigious in German-speaking theatre. Audiences can expect a mix of innovative and critically acclaimed productions.
