Berlin Zoo Seeks Name for Hippo Baby - Berlin Zoo invites public to name its adorable baby hippo by December 14
Berlin Zoo’s youngest hippo, born on September 28, remains unnamed nearly ten weeks later. The calf, thriving and rarely seen far from his mother Nala, has already charmed visitors since early November. Now, the public is invited to help choose his name.
The baby hippo, known for now by his first name Amara, arrived at the zoo in late September. Since early November, visitors have watched him explore his enclosure, usually close to his mother.
The competition closes on December 14, after which the jury will review all entries. The chosen name will soon become part of the young hippo’s identity as he continues to grow at Berlin Zoo. Visitors can still see him daily, now with the chance to contribute to his story.
