Breaking News: Two New Music Festivals, Magma and Lava, Land in Berlin
"Berlin trails in terms of open-air festivals, claims Melt-Macher"
Get ready, Berlin! The Melt Festival team is shaking things up with Magma and Lava, representing the duo's explosive return to the music scene. Prepare for a turbocharged weekend of electronic bliss, pulsating beats, and a party atmosphere unlike any other, happening on August 30th and 31st at the RSO area in Schöneweide.
The core team behind this exhilarating extravaganza consists of six diverse individuals managing booking, marketing, and ticketing. At the helm, we have Magnus von Welck as our festival director and Tobias Gruber leading marketing and promotion. With long-time Melt leader, Florian Czock, on board, you can bet there's no shortage of expertise in the electronic music business. The organizers have set up shop in Kreuzberg, a creative epicenter and hotspot sourcing international talent.
But why the change? According to von Welck, the team made the difficult decision to cancel Melt 2024 due to the financial impact of the pandemic on production costs and artist fees, leading to the unavoidable need for higher ticket prices. Recognizing the potential loss of the beloved community, they opted for a grand finale and are now ready to introduce something fresh and exciting: Magma and Lava.
So what can you expect from these festivals? Magma is all about diving deep into the underground currents of electronic music, offering niche sub-genres beyond Techno and House. Lava, on the other hand, is energetic, edgy, and youthful, blasting you with fast-paced, trancey, and catchy sounds. Imagine the bumper cars floor of Melt 2022 amplified, and you'll have a taste of Lava's vibe.
The RSO Valley, a unique open-air venue with a distinctive charm in Berlin, will serve as the playground for these sonic journeys. Situated not too far from the city center, you can conveniently experience the intensity of Magma and Lava without sacrificing accessibility.
Schöneweide might have a peripheral reputation, but that's all in the past. The 90s are over, and as metropolitans, we're more than capable of exploring further out. The region boasts an excellent S-Bahn connection, so the 20-minute ride to the festivals should be a breeze – or pedal your way there for a true Berlin adventure!
Keep your eyes peeled for future announcements in September as Magma and Lava aim to scale up and establish themselves through more stages, numerous live performances, and event expansions in both formats. Both festivals could potentially become multi-day events, with one format taking root in Berlin and the other moving to West Germany.
So, it appears that the Melt attitude is alive and well, bringing exciting combinations of familiar favorites and newcomers to the party scene. Let the countdown to Magma and Lava begin!
