Berlin's Interior Senator: Swimming Pools Open for Showering - Berlin pools open 24/7 after suspected arson leaves thousands without power
Thousands of households in southwestern Berlin have been without electricity for four days after a suspected arson attack. The outage has left residents struggling with basic needs, prompting local authorities to take action. Three public pools will now open their doors to provide essential services.
The power cut began following an incident believed to be linked to left-wing extremists. Since then, residents have faced ongoing disruptions, with no immediate end in sight. In response, Finckensteinallee Swimming Hall, Hüttenweg Swimming Hall, and Lankwitz Municipal Baths will operate 24 hours a day.
From 2 p.m. onwards, those affected can use the facilities free of charge. The pools will offer showers, warm areas, and charging points for phones. Authorities have not yet confirmed when normal power supply will resume.
The extended outage has forced many to rely on temporary solutions. With the pools now open for showers and charging, residents have a place to manage daily needs. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the attack while working to restore electricity.
