Berlin Police Seize Licenses of Two Street Racers in Tiergarten
Two drivers, aged 39 and 36, were apprehended last night for street racing in Berlin's Tiergarten. The incident unfolded around 0:50 AM, with the drivers overtaking other vehicles at high speeds.
The drivers initially lined up side by side at a red light on Lützowplatz, planning to turn right onto Lützowufer. As the light turned green, they both accelerated and sped off, with police in pursuit. Officers from local police districts, part of the Berlin Police structure, managed to stop the racers on Lützowufer near the Hiroshimasteg. Both drivers had their licenses seized following the incident.
The police districts involved are organized into sections called Abschnitte, each with 24/7 stations acting as local contact points. These sections are responsible for local patrols and traffic control, including the Tiergarten area, although the exact district names were not specified.
The drivers' reckless behaviour put other road users at risk. Their licenses were seized, and they now face potential legal consequences. The Berlin Police continues to monitor and address such dangerous activities.
