Let's Conquer Europe: Berlin's Handball Crusade Continues in Cologne

Germany's persistent aim: To clinch Europe's handball championship title in Berlin. - Berlin persists in its quest for European handball dominance: European championship title is still the objective.

After nabbing the Bundesliga title, Berlin's Foxes aren't settling for just domestic dominance. On their radar now? Europe's handball championship. Starting next week, the team will be gearing up for the Champions League Final Four in Cologne, and they're determined to complete their much-anticipated Panini album by acquiring that one last elusive sticker.

General manager Bob Hanning is already feeling the heat, eagerly anticipating the upcoming tournament. "We're still one sticker short. We'd really love to get that snapped up before we head to Cologne," he admitted, gazing ahead to the high-stakes clash.

Sports director Stefan Kretzschmar is equally excited for the event, where Berlin will square off against French vice-champs HBC Nantes in the semifinals on the weekend. "Winning the German championship has given us a massive boost. It'd have been tragic if we'd messed up before heading to Cologne. But now, we're going into the tournament feeling great," Kretzschmar remarked.

Could Mathias Gidsel be on the road to handball stardom?

The team's morale is sky-high, with star backcourt player Mathias Gidsel proudly declaring, "We're the best team on the planet!" The Danish ace was the game-changer in the nail-biting title race, securing Berlin's victory over defending champs SC Magdeburg with a thrilling 38:33 win against Rhein-Neckar Lions.

"Mathias Gidsel is on the fast track to becoming the greatest handball player of all time," National player Juri Knorr gushed over the Dane, donning the Foxes jersey. Knorr also offered a shoutout to both Berlin and Magdeburg, the second German contender vying for the King's Cup, wishing them "the best of luck." Magdeburg will face off against record champions FC Barcelona in their semifinal battle.

Veteran Fabian Wiede, who's been sporting the Foxes jersey for 16 long years, is eager for another wild celebration alongside his teammates. "We know what to expect," the 31-year-old admitted with a grin. "But with our current form, we're the best team on the planet. So I'm pumped for the tournament and hoping we can hoist the new title at the end!"
