Füchse Berlin Aiming for European Handball Throne in 2022 Champions League Final Four

Berlin aspirations persist: Pursuing title as premier European handball authority - Berlin persists in its ambition: Aiming to become the European handball champions.

It's all about filling the handball handbook for Füchse Berlin now! With the Champions League Final Four kicking off in Cologne next week, they've got their eyes set on that final sticker they're missing. Said managing director Bob Hanning, "We've made it to the big leagues, and we're ready to conquer Europe's handball crown."

The sports director, Stefan Kretzschmar, is just as pumped. He's eagerly counting down the days until the tournament, where Berlin will take on French vice-champions HBC Nantes in the semifinals on Saturday.

"Winning the German championship puts wind in our sails. It would have been devastating if we'd screwed it up. Now, we're heading to Cologne on a high note," said Kretzschmar.

Could Gidsel become the GOAT?

The Füchse players are feeling confident. Backcourt star Mathias Gidsel proclaimed, "We're the best team in the world!" The Danish world-class player was instrumental in Berlin's nail-biting title win over defending champions SC Magdeburg, securing a 38:33 victory against Rhein-Neckar Löwen.

National player Juri Knorr praised Gidsel's exceptional performance and predicted, "He's on a fast track to becoming the greatest handball player ever - even with legends like Mikkel Hansen and Nikola Karabatic around. I wish both Berlin and Magdeburg luck. They've got what it takes." SCM will face record champions FC Barcelona in the semifinals.

Veteran Fabian Wiede, who's worn the Füchse jersey for 16 years, is looking forward to another victory alongside his teammates. "We know what's coming up, but in the form we're in, we're the cream of the crop. So I'm excited about the tournament and hope we'll be hoisting the trophy at the end," said the 31-year-old.
