Wagging Tails in Berlin: A Pooch PRowess Contest Honoring Asterix's Iconic Pal
Event: Doppelgänger Competition at Berlin Museum, Modeled after Idefix - Berlin Museum Hosts Dog-Likeness Contest: Imitation of Idefix Character
Turn up the woof factor! A furry frenzy took over the Museum für Kommunikation in the heart of Berlin, stimulating plenty of barks and banter. This city of dreams played host to an extraordinary showdown: Which of the participating pooches bore the closest resemblance to the legendary comic canine, Idefix, from the hilarious Asterix and Obelix renditions by the talented French artist, Albert Uderzo? The contest was launched to celebrate the 60th birthday of the scruffy sidekick of our beloved Gaul duo.
As space was made for up to 25 pups to join the fun-filled spectacle, only five dogs initially made the cut, each striving to embody the essence of the comic Idefix. The jury, roughly resembling a panel of stern rock-and-roll superstars, deliberated and announced the doggy doppelganger that, in their discerning opinion, had triumphantly captured Idefix's spirit.
To sweeten the stakes and add a fun reward to the winning concoction, free museum tickets and an array of Asterix and Obelix memorabilia was up for grabs for the victorious pooch and its proud parent(s).
The captivating "Uderzo - From Asterix to Magic Potion" exhibition is currently running at the museum until June 15. Take a trip back through time and explore the incredible life and groundbreaking comic work of this creative powerhouse, who sadly left us at the age of 92 in 2020. Expect to see original pages, sketches, and revealing artifacts from Uderzo's own studio, unveiling insights into the genius who brought us these beloved tales.
