Berlin athletes are unexpectedly putting up numerous awards and trophies from their careers at auction.
Rock band Rammstein is currently auctioning off a selection of their gold and platinum awards on a dedicated charity website, with the proceeds going to various organizations in the fields of society, culture, and nature.
The auctioned items include awards from the Wacken Festival 2013, Finnish gold records for the "Zeit" album (2022), and awards for sold-out Rammstein concerts in 2022 on the North America Stadium Tour in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The auction also includes Danish platinum awards for the albums "Rammstein" (2019) and "Most Impressive Live Show" (2017 Pop Culture Award).
Some of the organizations that will benefit from the auction proceeds are the Albert-Schweitzer-Children’s Village, an organisation that provides homes and support for foster children, and #AlarmstufeRot, an initiative created in response to the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the event industry. Two other charities supported by the auction proceeds were not detailed in the search results but are explicitly listed by Rammstein Charity.
The specific organizations the proceeds will be donated to are not specified in the current paragraph, but can be found on the charity website [rammstein.charity]. It is important to note that full access requires a registered online account.
The current bids for the auction items range from 424 to 723 euros. Rammstein drummer Christoph Schneider has encouraged auction participants: "Don't make the singer angry!" (date unspecified).
The auctioned awards are provided by Rammstein Merchandising oHG, who will then donate the proceeds to the members who provided the items. The members of Rammstein will donate the proceeds they receive from the auction in full to various organizations. The auction is taking place with over three days and 21 hours left, and significant price increases are expected.
In other news, Rammstein guitarist Richard Kruspe has mentioned that a few members have moved out as of 14.05.2025. This move, however, does not seem to have affected the band's charitable efforts.
The Rammstein Charity initiative was announced on May 6, 2021, and has raised a total of €493,106 from auctions of the band's awards[1]. The charity has raised funds for various grassroots organizations, including Berlin Cold Help, City Mission, Die Arche, Gesundes Afrika, Neues Wohnen im Kiez, Sonnenstrahl, Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin, a humanitarian project in Afghanistan, the Bergwald-Projekt, Arbeitskreis "Entwicklungshilfe", Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald, Berliner Kältehilfe, Berliner Stadtmission, Rheuma-Kinder, and Tierschutzverein für Berlin.
