Frost causes slight delays in departures at BER - Berlin Airport Defies Freezing Weather With Minimal Flight Delays

Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is operating smoothly despite freezing temperatures. The airport has handled winter conditions well, with no major disruptions reported so far. Over 63,000 passengers are expected to pass through on Saturday alone.

Pilots at BER have been de-icing aircraft due to frost and sub-zero temperatures. The icy conditions, caused by freezing spray rain on December 27, 2025, led to minor delays in departures. Several flights faced hold-ups as crews took extra precautions before takeoff.

Authorities have advised travellers to allow extra time when heading to the airport. While operations remain stable, passengers may experience slight delays due to the wintry weather. The airport’s winter preparations appear to have prevented any serious issues.
