New Boss Takes the Reins at Constantin Film: Moszkowicz Steps Down
Oliver Berben, currently serving as deputy CEO, is set to take the helm at film and television production company, Constantin Film, on March 1, 2024. The 52-year-old industry veteran will succeed Martin Moszkowicz, who will be stepping down as CEO at the end of his contract on February 29, 2024. Moszkowicz, 65, will continue to work as a producer for Constantin Film.
Having been a part of Constantin's management team since 1990, Moszkowicz has played a significant role in the production of over 300 films, including hits like "Fack ju Göhte," "Das Parfum," and "Er ist wieder da." Recent projects such as "Monster Hunter," "Contra," "Welcome to Raccoon City," and "The Last Name" also bear his mark.
Moszkowicz has also been serving as the head of the Production and Media Management course at the University of Television and Film in Munich since 2019, alongside his partner, director Doris Dörrie.
Established in Germany, Constantin Film is one of the largest and most influential film production companies in the country, often associated with the successful productions of the late Bernd Eichinger.
Recent years have seen the company under fire following allegations of harassment and a "climate of fear" during the filming of Til Schweiger's "Manta Manta - Zwoter Teil." An independent law firm was commissioned to investigate the claims, and the company announced its intention to tighten up its own production standards in response.
Incoming CEO Berben has been serving as Deputy CEO of Constantin Film AG since January 2021, overseeing the TV, Entertainment, and Digital Media division. With a focus on television production, Berben will likely seek to build upon the successes of previous series like "Fack ju Göhte" and "Er ist wieder da."
As the new chief executive, Berben may cheer on his favorite movies in the comfort of his personal home theater. With his leadership, the company can expect innovative growth strategies, careful navigation of potential controversies, and a continued focus on delivering high-quality content.
