In the heart of Romania, on the outskirts of Bucharest, the Junior World Championships took place, featuring a range of swimming events. Among the competitors was Noelle Benkler, a vice-European champion and a representative from Germany.

Noelle, originally from Bodenwöhr (district of Schwandorf), previously swam for Regensburg Swimming Club (SCR). At the Junior World Championships, she qualified as the third fastest competitor for the 400m individual medley with a time of 4:39.01 minutes.

However, during the competition, Noelle faced a slight setback. In the fifth heat of the event, her time was 8.5 seconds slower than her personal best, recording a time of 4:47.67 minutes. Despite this, she managed to finish fifth in the fifth heat of the fastest qualifiers.

In the overall standings, Noelle placed ninth in the 400m individual medley. Her coach, Carsten Gooßes, the Nachwuchs-Bundestrainer (youth national coach) of the German Swimming Federation (DSV), was there to support her throughout the competition.

Despite the slight disappointments, Noelle's performance at the Junior World Championships in Otopeni, Romania, showcased her talent and potential in the world of swimming. As she continues to grow and improve, we can expect to see even more impressive performances from this promising young athlete.
