Bencic's Wimbledon Run Ends, Gauff Makes History
Belinda Bencic's Wimbledon run ended in the quarterfinals this summer, but not before a heated exchange with Coco Gauff during their tennis match. Gauff, meanwhile, continues to make history on the court.
Bencic and Gauff clashed during their Wimbledon encounter, with Bencic expressing displeasure about Gauff's coaching team in the crowd. Gauff, however, has been making strides with her coach Gavin leading her team at the 2022 WTA Finals in Riyadh. Gavin has been instrumental in addressing some of Gauff's technical issues.
Gauff, at just 21 years old, has already made her mark on the sport. She is the third youngest player to reach 20 WTA quarterfinals at the Masters level. This November, she will compete in the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, becoming the youngest player to qualify for the event this century, joining Maria Sharapova in this elite group. Gauff's impressive run includes defending her title at the China Open, defeating Bencic 4-6, 7-6, 6-2. She is also the youngest player in 14 years to achieve 150 hard-court wins.
Despite the on-court tension, both Bencic and Gauff have proven their mettle on the tennis court. Gauff's qualification for the WTA Finals at such a young age is a testament to her skill and dedication, while Bencic's Wimbledon run showcased her resilience and determination.
