Tour de France 2025: Ben Healy Wins Stage Six in Surprise Solo Victory
In a thrilling turn of events on Stage Six of the 2025 Tour de France, Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) claimed a shocking solo victory. The 201.5km route in Normandy, featuring over 3,200 meters of climbing and multiple categorised climbs, proved to be a challenging yet exciting day for the riders.
The stage began with a breakaway, with Ben Healy escaping around 41km from the finish line. His lead grew steadily, and he never looked back, securing his first Tour de France stage victory. Meanwhile, Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who was part of the day's break, managed to gain 1 minute 29 seconds over the general classification favorites, allowing him to reclaim the yellow jersey.
The stage resembled an Ardennes Classic, with numerous attacks in the peloton, including those by Mathieu Burgadeau (TotalEnergies), but these attempts were swiftly shut down. Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek) and Ben Healy took the maximum points at the Côte du Mont Pinçon and Côte de Juvigny-le-Tertre, respectively.
Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) suffered a mechanical issue, losing around half a minute to the top GC contenders. A reduced peloton allowed Nils Politt (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) to take the front, giving a break of half a minute. Eddie Dunbar (Jayco AlUla) joined the break, followed by Simon Yates (Visma-Lease a Bike) and Michael Storer (Tudor Pro Cycling).
Healy attacked again with 109km to go, followed by Simmons, Van der Poel, Barta, and Tejada. However, these attempts were unsuccessful, and Healy's solo effort proved to be the decisive move of the day. Storer finished third, with Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek) in second.
In the overall standings, Mathieu van der Poel now leads the race by just a second, with Tadej Pogačar hot on his heels. The race continues to be a nail-biting affair, with every stage offering unpredictable twists and turns.
The next stage promises to be just as exciting, as the riders prepare for another grueling challenge in their quest for the prestigious yellow jersey.
Sports enthusiasts were thrilled by the unexpected victory of Ben Healy in the 2025 Tour de France, as he claimed a solo victory on Stage Six. The intense competition and challenging terrain of the route in Normandy tested the endurance of the riders, making for an exhilarating day of sports.
