Ben Griffin, PGA Tour champion, chooses an unanticipated golf ball manufacturer for his games.
Going for Gold: Ben Griffin's Stunning PGA Tour Wins
As the 2025 season unfolds, the golf world has been captivated by the performances of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Sepp Straka. Yet, another name has risen to the spotlight - Ben Griffin. With victories at not one, but two PGA Tour events, Griffin has joined an exclusive club of golfers with multiple wins this season.
An intriguing journey lies behind this success. In 2021, Griffin took a break from the game to become a loan officer for a mortgage group. Four years on, he returned to golf and clinched his first PGA Tour title. The Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April was his launching pad, followed by the Charles Schwab Challenge, making him only the fourth player to claim multiple wins in the year.
Griffin's tale is as gripping as his game. His narrative is a testament to resilience, grit, and the unwavering spirit that drives golfers to push beyond obstacles.
A twist in Griffin's story came in May 2024 when he inked a golf ball deal with Maxfli. Inspired by Major winner Lexi Thompson, who signed with the manufacturer earlier that year, Griffin was intrigued by the Maxfli Tour X ball. He reported a noticeable improvement in distance off the tee, and the ball's performance in windy conditions. This partnership proved fruitful, with Griffin's victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans marking Maxfli's first win on the PGA Tour in 22 years.
The Maxfli Tour X ball, a four-piece golf ball featuring a soft urethane cover, also won accolades from Golf Monthly. The publication praised the ball's impressive distance off the tee and its performance in challenging weather conditions, while emphasizing its affordable price compared to premium golf balls on the market.
Griffin is also recognized for his on-course attire, particularly the aviator-style sunglasses he dons during rounds. Compelled by a serious vision issue in 2024, Griffin discovered he had a retinal detachment that needed immediate attention. Wearing sunglasses helps mitigate the impact of his impaired vision. As he explained at the Memorial Tournament in May, "if it's really bright out and I'm not wearing the sunglasses, I look into the clouds or whatever and I see black stuff everywhere."
Despite the challenges, Griffin continues to shine on the greens, captivating fans with his unyielding determination and stylish flair. As the 2025 season unfolds, golf enthusiasts eagerly await his next move. Will he continue his winning streak, or will a new rising star claim the spotlight? Only time will tell.
