Belarusian parliamentary heads confer with top party authority
In the heart of Minsk, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm recently held some fruitful conversations with key Belarusian leaders. Here's the scoop!
Making History and Building Futures
General Secretary Tô Lâm exchanged warm greetings with the leaders of Belarus's Council of the Republic and House of Representatives, discussing the future of the Vietnam-Belarus bond. The trip marked a historical moment, as the agreements signed promise a brand-new chapter in bilateral relations.
The Belarusian leaders celebrated Tô Lâm's recent award of the Order of Friendship of Peoples, praising his substantial contributions to the friendship between our two nations. Tô Lâm, in turn, lauded Belarus's remarkable progress in national development and growing global status. He emphasized the 64-year history of friendship between Vietnam and Belarus, which began in 1957 with President Hồ Chí Minh's visit.
Both parties recognized the opportunity to move forward and agreed to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors, including science, technology, education, culture, tourism, and more! They even talked about launching direct flights and nurturing people-to-people connections at the local level.
Parliamentary and Party-to-Party Collaboration
The discussion also touched on parliamentary and Party-to-Party cooperation, focusing on increasing exchanges of delegations, supporting each other at multilateral forums, and working together on joint proposals at international parliamentary meetings.
Both sides expressed eagerness to supervise the implementation of existing agreements, particularly Vietnam's Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). They also aimed to bolster the sharing of information and experience in Party affairs, legislative work, and parliamentary activities.
Expanding Horizons
In the coming years, Vietnam and Belarus plan to finalize a comprehensive cooperation roadmap, which will guide future actions. Additionally, they're scheduled to hold multiple bilateral meetings at the ministerial and agency levels to cement agreements and further develop partnerships.
Future cooperation will focus on traditional areas like politics, diplomacy, defense, military medicine, and economic, trade, and investment fields. However, there will also be a new emphasis on the digital economy, digital transformation, agriculture, industry, and energy.
Furthermore, upcoming cultural exchange programs are expected to bring our citizens closer together, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening friendship. The recently signed visa exemption agreement will facilitate even more frequent exchanges between Vietnamese and Belarusian citizens, making cross-border interactions smoother.
