Vyacheslav Gretsky Bids Farewell to KHL, as Minsk "Dinamo" Prepares for Moscow Mayor's Cup
After a distinguished career in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Vyacheslav Gretsky has announced his retirement from Khabarovsk "Amur". The forward, who started his 2024/25 season with Zvezda before moving to Khabarovsk, spent three seasons with "Amur" before calling it a day.
Gretsky's career in the KHL began with Minsk "Dinamo", where he played 19 games in the 2019/20 season, scoring 3 points (1 goal and 2 assists). He then joined Khabarovsk and played 64 games in the 2024/25 season, scoring 8 points (5 goals and 3 assists).
In his farewell post, Gretsky thanked Khabarovsk and its fans for their support throughout his time with the club. He also participated in the 2020 KHL All-Star Game, a testament to his talent and skill on the ice.
Meanwhile, Minsk "Dinamo" is gearing up for a new challenge. The club will make its debut in the Moscow Mayor's Cup, an annual pre-season tournament that will take place from August 28 to 31 at the "Megasport" Sports Palace.
The 18th edition of the tournament will feature six teams: Moscow's "CSKA", "Spartak", and "Dinamo", Nizhny Novgorod's "Torpedo", the Chinese "Shanghai Dragons", and Minsk "Dinamo" themselves. The tournament format includes a group stage and final matches for the final standings, including the final.
Participation in the Moscow Mayor's Cup will be an important step in preparing for the new KHL season for Minsk "Dinamo". The club will have the opportunity to test its strength against the strongest teams in the KHL, including Moscow's "Dinamo", a team that has the chance to compete for the trophy, which has been won by CSKA, Spartak, and Vitiaz in different years.
As Gretsky hangs up his skates, Minsk "Dinamo" heads to Moscow, ready to take on the challenges of the Moscow Mayor's Cup and the upcoming KHL season.
