Belarusian band bids adieu with upcoming tour series announced

Fresh Take:

Brace yourselves, folks! The legendary Belarusian group, "Drozdy," is embarking on a final tour across their homeland, marking the end of a two-decade music journey.

Vitaly Karpanov, the charismatic frontman of the band, announced on Instagram that their farewell concerts will take place in the summer of 2025. The band's devoted fanbase is weighing the sincerity of this declaration, suspecting it could just be a clever ploy to boost ticket sales. However, the tickets are surprisingly affordable - as low as Br30-40 for the Molodechno concert on July 12.

Formed in 2005, "Drozdy" rose to prominence quickly and even graced the stage at the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk festival. The band's lineup includes Vitaly Karpanov (the balalaika-playing, 43-year-old vocalist), Ilya Nemytko (bayan), Sergey Kiselev (bass guitar), Oleg Ivanovich (guitar), and Andrei Mavrin (drums).

The band's name has several origin stories, including links to "Pesnyary," the catchy "Khaty Batku," and a mysterious fan from the village of "Drozdo." Yet, neither Karpanov nor his companions have ever confirmed or denied these theories in the last 20 years.

Their most popular song, "Khaty Batku," with over 4.6 million views on YouTube, resonates with many. The lyrics, such as "Ne pradaetsya khata batku,..." translate to "A corner of the father's house is not for sale..." and remind listeners of the homes they left behind. In 2021, the song "Father's House" gained popularity not just in Belarus but also on Russian television, with host Andrei Malakhov found humming along to the catchy tune.

Although no official details about the farewell tour have been released, keep an eye on afisha. Our website.by for any concert schedule and ticket information. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual listener, this tour is an opportunity not to be missed!

Attending a Drozdy concert on their final tour might offer a unique entertainment experience, particularly with the music from their popular song "Khaty Batku." Ticket prices, ranging from Br30-40 for the Molodechno concert on July 12, could make it an affordable entertainment option for many.
